Project 3 Learning Outcome 2:

For this project, I used three different sources rather than just two resources that we usually do. I used these resources as evidence by pulling their ideas and connecting it with my thesis. A specific example of me using this method in my essay was quoting Alice when she stated, “I have lived with my mom my whole life, yet this is the most time that I spent with her just the two of us.” I used this to show how that despite going through the dark and unclear situations, there are some good that we can take away hidden. While reading this from Alice, I thought it was so good that it would seem unfair for me to not use it in my work because of the amount of emotion and significance that is hidden within this simple quote. The emotion behind this quote related back to my thesis where there are some things that we can benefit from, making my point stronger and more relevant.

 For Shannon I paraphrased when she mentioned that she has learned a lot of not only her family but herself as well. Drawing these quotes give more evidence to my thesis and allows the reader to hear multiple perspectives of this even allowing them to form their own idea of it. I used these resources and intertwined all of them, comparing and contrasting, finding what was similar and interesting. Integrating all these ideas was pretty difficult in the beginning because you did not want to just focus on one perspective the whole time. Making sure to use all sources evenly is important so it does not give the reader a sense of you being biased. I used all three evenly to help support my thesis while still leaving the reader to have ideas of their own, whether it agrees with my thesis or not, but I believe I used them effectively whilst giving all the information.
